Conservation
At first the projects main emphasis was to get trees planted and organizing different forest workshops get people involved in their local community woodlands, but I had underestimated the importance of the stories and the role they can play in reconnecting people to nature.
As time progressed the stories took on more and more importance and I put less emphasis on the tree museums and other workshop activities. The stories became the main vehicle for inspiring tree planting or conservation work.
After the stories are written and illustrated groups were invited to make an act of kindness to the forest or to nature.
Acts of kindness can be anything from planting native butterfly and bee attracting plants or seeds to planting trees or helping with cleaning up litter in a local wild place. It can be an individual or group effort, large or small. See some of the examples in the photos below.
As of August 2023 The Lost Museum of Trees Project has planted over 750 trees across the Highlands of Scotland and provided Funding for 7 copses for Abriachan Community Woodland.
