Phase 1
Phase One – Creating Stories
The main core theme of the Lost Museum is to explore both the nature of experience and the value of creating our own traditional stories.
An initial target was set in the beginning of creating 50 contemporary folk tales for the development of a travelling Forest Library which could be used for exchange between different Highland and Northern Forest Communities.
The creation of the stories and the Forest Library were vehicles for reconnecting us to our local forests and the Northern Forests. They are also to be the vehicles for inspiring climate action.
To help enable the story writing process and to ensure a variety of different themes, bespoke folk tale cards and story kits were developed using ingredients from old traditional Northern Forest folk tales. These included for example trees from the ancient Gaelic Tree Alphabet and characters from the old stories.
The kits were used to stimulate enchantment and imagination in the stories but were also the first attempt to reconnect us to the Northern Forest culture as they represented various forest culture ingredients.
